What keeps the planter shoes/seed drop tube from clogging with dirt? Or is this common problem with old row planters with shoes instead of disc openers? Thanks

It was with ours when it the ground conditions were not quite dry enough. When planting we tried to keep it moving other than stop and put it down. Seemed to help some.

Be moving forward when you let it in the ground and keep moving when you raise the planter out of the ground.Don't stop with the planter on the ground.

As already mentioned, keep moving forward when raising or lowering planter.
This also applies to planter with disc openers.
