We have in the shop a H Farmall - issue , the intake valves stick.  We removed the valves, reamed the guides and issue remains.   Seems no oil is going to lube stems- the rockers only have oil seeping out either side of the rocker - pressure is good.

any ideas ?

All the intake valves stick? exhaust valves don't?
'pressure is good' where did you measure?
is there enough oil in the crankcase?
if the oil pan has the 2 'petcocks' on the side, oil must drip out the upper one when it is cracked open.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Has this H been in running order, or are you getting it to run after a long period of sitting??

owner said sitting a while - we found rocker arms all stopped up - oil now goes to the push rod side but not to the valve side -  #2 and #3 intake only sticks.  We took head off and reamed   the valve guides -plenty of clearance - polished the stems - shimmed the springs - set the lash to .012 hot  and the two intakes still stick.  It might run 15 minutes - then stick.  anytime a load is put on the engine the valves stick.  The head top is as clean as possible - no crud.

Also when one sprays lube in on the spring while running - it makes the issue worse.
To unstick , one just has to tap the valve and it will pop back up .

If you have any old gas in the system, it will cause the exact thing you mention - Intake valves only to stick. The old gas shellacs up the stems and sticks them.

Been there :(

Drained gas , flushed , added seafoam and another cleaner, fresh gas .  Ran a can of carb cleaner through carb with eng running .   UNIT THEN RAN GREAT FOR 1 HOUR -  pulled  it out of shop and both front 2 intake vales stuck open.   Also have adjusted carb for lean and rich run - no difference.  Kind of a puzzle.

Everything that shows up here gets Seafoam in the gas and oil. Had a D15II that sat for years, decent oil pressure but less oil up top than I liked. Seafoam tends to clean up gals pretty darned good but I don't leave it in and work it too long for fear of loosening all the crud and plugging up the sump screen.
Usually drop it after 20-30 minutes at op. temp, leave drain plug out overnight, fresh fill and work it before another oil/filter change within an hour or two of using it.

That's a really good thought Tim, Seafoam the oil side of the problem too!
