This is attached to a previous thread about how to make a cool running 7080 with low end power.  Me and my brother put on an HX35 and increased the intake and BAM.  Gotta say this thing will pull the earth off its axis at 1600 rpm.  I know its already in the thread but I'm really proud of this.

My understanding of how a turbo works is you build your fuel delivery to match your turbo. Most people go about it backwards and just buy a bigger turbo. Could it be that some AC's have to small of a stock factory turbo to handle the fuel delivery? I read elsewhere of guys going to newer more efficient turbos and getting good gains.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am fully aware that it is built around a matching of air/fuel ratio.  I was getting a factory level of boost before and had problems cooling and low end power.  Installing now plumbing and an HX35 provided more boost down low and slightly more at rated rpm.  I then received my desired effect in both power levels and temps.  I believe that factory turbos on 426's were incapable of supplying air at lower RPM's and at higher RPM's would not supply enough to keep EGT's low.  We were at 76 degrees the other day and for the first time the 7080 was worked to potential and still set on the thermostat.

This is the comparison of the two sizes, The one on the right I actually cut off that part from the base bolted onto the IC and welded on the new size pipe.  Then the two elbows were equal going to the HX35 and inner cooler.  I am sure most people have seen that the actual air inlet into the inner cooler is significantly bigger that the crossover tube that was removed.  I would have to  talk to my brother about  you coming over.  Since my Dad died it has become his farm and he is not the most social person.  I am going to the Farm for his daughters (my niece) birthday.  I can get some more pics and discuss it then.

.....Thankyou...Sorry about your loss. I went thru that and it takes time...But watching my parents lose a middle age son and a 10  year old daugther, made me appreciate my surroundings--Today.  I will watch for further postings....Dale

What was the original application for this turbo?  Just curious if there was a more specific part number.  I did a quick search and it looks like mainly the dodge cummins and some wheel loaders.  Looks like it bolted right up to the exhaust flange.  Where did you buy this unit?  Great pictures, thanks for posting them.

I too am curious, it sure doesn't look like any HX35 I've ever seen. Also looks to have a Borg Warner logo. Compressor side resembles a 3LM466, but turbine housing is much narrower.

After looking closer it does look like an S300 with a .88 turbine housing.

Maybe the problem was a bad turbo to start with
