We use soap and water in a garden sprayer or whatever  for almost instantaneous results.  Works like a champ.

That's exactly what I do... the garden hose-mounted sprayer with the jar... mostly water, and a little liquid dish soap, hose the whole lot of 'em, and they turn into a compost pile....

we've had them in the house all winter too, they meet a tea bottle with water in it. same with them little beetles.
