| I'm wondering about the capacity of my 2WD AC 5020: the operator's manual says it takes a Cat 1 single bottom plow. I've seen some single bottom plows that look very heavy, but have pins that appear to be Cat 1 pins. I've also been told by an implement dealer that a 480 lb single bottom 14" plow is probably too much plow for the tractor on unbroken pasture. I'm puzzled and would like some advice regarding plows, discs, etc. |

If in doubt, trailer your tractor to the dealer who wants to sell you the implement, hook up, and see how light it makes the front end! I just finished up mounting an old 4' wide Rogers slice aerator, to a B2100 Kuboter. When I hooked it up, I had 3 55 lb weights on the front, NOT ENOUGH! Found out I hadda kuboter weight bracket, that a guy who sold me some weights had thrown in with the weights. Turns out that is was the right bracket, to add 2 weights that I needed to add. to put it on, I hadda take off the 3 that were on there, when I got 2 off, the FE of the tractor was 3' in the air!

I bought a 2-14 3 point plow at Tractor Supply about 25 years ago. I bought a five foot 3 point disc at the same time. I had turf tires loaded with tire chains. I had to add a depth tire to keep it from digging to deep. It did well in low forth about 9 inches deep. I would guess that you would need a depth tire at the rear with the type of hydraulics on the 5020. I did have the loader on when plowing. If your tires are not loaded you will need to add weigh on the rear. You also might need to hang some weight on the front. The tractor will pull the plow just fine after the tractor is weighted properly. |

480# sounds like an awful heavy single bottom, cat 1 plow. I had a 2 bottom plow I could move around by myself. ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |
