Looking for rebuild kit for 1964 I-40 loader/backhoe control valves. When I tilt the bucket all the way back then go to lower or raise it has no power. But when I dump a littler all the power comes back like the poppet valve or PRV is popped. So I’m wanting to get a rebuild kit for all the poppet, springs, and O-rings. It’s a two spool so it should not be that bad. I will try to post pictures. Thanks for any help.

you arent going to find  a kit using these part numbers.  need to contact the OEM and see if they have parts still available or take it to a hydraulic shop and see what they can do.

Cal,

Do you know of any other tractor that might have the same set up?
Thanks

I believe that either 170's or 17's use the same valve sections, I added one to a D-10, coupla years ago.  Also don't know whether the number is spelled out or is numbers as above...  I found mine, on a shell of a tractor, over at WC Littleton's in Laurel, DE...Wink

Thank you DIY Dave! I’m trying to get some pictures but the files are too big.

Finally got some pictures to work. Still could not get it to rotate the way i wanted but I got them on here. Has anyone ever had a problem with the poppet valve/PSV not holding? I works good when idle but if I push the throttle up and I go to use the loader or backhoe it looses all power until I drop it back down to idle and move the font loader to get the power back. I have changed the hydro fluid and filter and it all looks good. but when it does it. It sounds like its bypassing in the lever valves. That's what makes me think its the Poppet/ PSV valve and not the pump. Thanks for all the help i can get.

OK, now that I see the valve, in question, it is not the same as what I thought. I'll dig around my manuals, and see if I find anything, on this...

You may find it ea$ier to replace the whole valve, with a off the shelf unit, from surplus center, or a similar supplier...Wink

Thanks DIY, I was just trying to make it easier to fix the old one. I really do not want to have to remake hoes and tubing and fabricate a new bracket to hold  the new controls.
