I have a Reliance overhaul kit for the CA. The pistons have a notch in them, which way does the notch go? Also, the top ring isn't marked, so it must go either way? #2 and #3 rings have a dot on them.

Thanks in advance

rule of thumb is notch to front....your experience may vary...if they have offset wrist pins,it matters.

O.K., I just got off the phone with Reliance. The top ring, being square cut, goes either way. The notch in the piston goes toward the front. I already had the rings on and the pistons assembled to the rods, but I thought I better make darn sure before I put them in, other wise it would drive me nuts wondering about it.
I thought it was to the front, but I did a Briggs awhile back, and the notch went toward the flywheel. That got the second guessing started....

I will say Reliance has fast, helpful people.

Just a reminder, that the two pistons are assembled with the rods one way and the other two the opposite way, so the arrows are the same way after in the sleeves, because of the off set rods.
