I have a 720 that could use a different ring gear. I know that they use a ten tooth starter, I have a new 9 tooth starter that that I got that was supposed to be a 10(Don't ask long story) can I get a ring gear for that starter? I was told that other applications went that way for faster starting. Any thoughts or ideas.. Thanks in advance John

I don't post much but I read the forums everyday, not only great info but some great entertainment

All the 620/720's that I've encountered were 9 tooth. Some of the 10 tooth versions according to some of my applicaition books + the internet were used in other Onan models, or used with the CCKA version of the Onan. I have a brand new 10 tooth on the shelf if your looking for the 10 tooth.

Thanks Steve I've got the original one needs some work but I've got a guy who can rebuild it. I got a new starter and it was wrong. I probably changed the numbers in my original post. I'll have to double check. Thanks for the reply. By the way that new harness works great was well worth the money.

Do your books show what might use the 10 tooth starter? My 10 tooth starter is brand new just wondering if a ring gear for that might be available to fit the cckb. Either way I need to get a different ring gear.

Glad you like the harness John! I'd give Brenda a call at Sandy Lake tomorrow and see if she can hook you up with a new ring gear. Not sure if they're available yet. Ya never know tho. She pulls a rabbit out of her hat sometimes. She's the best!

John,
I have a 620 parts Tractor. It has the engine in it. Couldn't tell you what condition of the flywheel ring gear is in, but unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to get to it cause its buried in the snow under a tarp at the present time. Probably wouldn't be able to get to look at it till Spring. I guess it doesn't do you any good right now, but I have a possibility....
