I was guessing earlier this winter that I had enough firewood left over from the previous winter to get us thru this one. I'm already into the stack of Post Oak I worked so hard to cut, buck and split for next winter. With this next cold blast the dent in the stack is going to get nothing but bigger. Just the thought of getting back in the woods instead of working on assembling a 39B and a 47 C makes me wish winter was over. I take heart in hearing it will be back in the 70s again next weekend. I am worried we will loose the blueberry crop. The blooms are nearly full open now and night temps are to be in the 20s 3 nights starting Sunday

Well Ken it doesn't look good does it? I know last year we had some very cold weather and the apple trees bloomed out beautiful and didn't raise one baby. I guess it had been so cold that it did something to the blooms so they couldn't set fruit. And I'm just about of my famous apple butter.

Leon, it can't be famous,,,,,,,,,,,I haven't seen my jar yet. Just sayin....... The apple trees got knocked in the head two years in a row. The blossoms come out in full force and then WHAM, it freezes and the blooms fall off. ergo, no apples.... If it tries to do it this year, I'm gonna cut that dang tree down. it's gotta be IT'S fault... Ken, blueberries is one of my favorites!! I sure hope they don't get froze out. SHSSssssstttttt,,,,Chask,,,thats how he plans to get all thet blizzard snow cleaned off,,,by offerin thet free fire wood that is UNDER the snow to ole Ken,,,,but,,,,but I ain't gonna tell ole Ken,,,,just gonna send him a PM and ask him if he knows,,,,,,,  Chit,,,the last time I looked on Google Earth,,,,I could NOT even find my Pride and Joy for all them HUGE snow banks all over the property,,,,,,,

I milled some (100+) real nice live edge ash 1.25" thick for wife's 'chicooterie' boards...she made 3, sold 10 and tells me the boards are too wide for the planer.Now I'm mumbling that SHE said 'no' to buying the $1800 sander for $200+ 1hr roadtrip. Ken- Put the sprinkler on the end of the hose, and when it gets down to 33F, turn the sprinkler on 'em... It will prevent them from getting bit by frost... ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest. |

Our little town had a big dead oak tree removed early this winter. Then dumped it in my yard. I split and stacked some of it with a sledge, wedge and ax. but I got to skip the stacking part for much of it by splitting and hauling it right into the house.
