Friend of mine is rebuilding the cylinder area of an All Crop 66. Question came up that the book says that cylinder shouldn't exceed 1400 to 1600 rpm. I know that is on the top end of things. What are some typical rpm speeds that one might start out with for oats, wheat, clover seed and soybeans. Just curious, my dad could remember that for clover seed that they would run the cylinder at a faster RPM. Thanks, snowman(MI)

I use my 72 mostly for soybeans and with cylinder bars still having rubber on the leading edge, I run the cylinder at about 800rpm. The bin sample would make a $500,000 combine jealous but I don't have a heated leather seat. Ryan

My 72 All Crop does an excellent job with half the cylinder bars removed. I ran the combine with 4 cylinder bars. The guy buying the grain at the elevator wished the operators of the expensive self propel combines would have the quality soybeans of my AC .

clover 1200-1600 oats /wheat 1400-1600
barley 1000-1600 soy 850-1400 if he needs screens i have a few.

if soys are real dry ive had to run my cylinder down to 450-500 on my 90 to prevent splits

I came up with tachometer for All Crop combine at a sale but it didn't have mounting bracket or cable - does anyone have what I need to make it work (does it mount same on 66 and 72?). Thanks

Those tachometers are kinda rare. You would also need the special nut that replaces the standard one on the cylinder shaft. A person could easily make it I'm thinking. Ryan

The cylinder tach mounting on the clean grain elevator never made much sense to me, being as you adjust the speed from the left side of the machine. I've never used one, but seems you'd be walking back and forth a lot from the front of the machine, then back to the side. I've seen some literature showing the tach mounting right above the cylinder on the left side, which seems like it would be most ideal. Can anyone shed light on the subject?

Had one on my 72. Mounted where it was made for allowed me to see what my cylinder speed was from the tractor. Yes some walking to get the first set but then it would help me keep the throttle at the correct speed for the cylinder.
