Fellers, I replaced 1 of these today. A word of advice, if you are over 35 years old, and I think I am the only one on here that owns up to being over 35, hire some young stud to do this 4 you. My darn neck/back has a double crook in it tonight and I still got 1 screw left over. Boys that dang screw ain't going back in. Took me longer to remove this 1 dang little old 8mm screw than all the rest. Had to pull the carpet back and use a open end wrench to get it out. 1/8 or less turn at a time, pull my hand back out, turn the dang wrench over, pick the dang wrench back up, pick it up again and then move the bolt a tiny bit. Sure glad this is her van, wonder how I'm gonna get paid for this job???

I'm 65 and just replacing the heater fan resistor in a chevy canyon was bad enough for me.

Found out yesterday one of Ford's 'better ideas' was to add an 'anti theft' adapter to the spare tire carriers of F-150s ( +-2003) .Without the special socket(like lug nuts...) it is a real PITFA to remove the spare tire.
OK, I 'cheated'...
step one..cut frame in half
step two..flip over box with A-C forklift
step 3..remove plastic guide tube
step 4.. make several trips to garage to find 'THE' bar of steel that can destroy the anti theft piece.

BTW, there's 13 different sockets ,so unless it's in the glove box, well... have 'fun' cause Ford don't stock them anymore...

I think every darn car and truck that comes thru a dealer auction has those darn unlocking sockets missing! I always kept extra lugnuts around to replace the ones on the wheels but the idiot that thought up that mess on The spare tire out ta have his, u know what's, removed with a dull knife.
