Anyone here use a 185 or a 190 on a swing away auger? Got a new to me 8-71 Westfield and the WD or the D17 doesn’t have enough hyd. capacity to lift it to the top of my bins. Had to use the 7045 to set it up but it’s my grain cart tractor. Doesn’t need that much hp to run it, just can’t lift it with the smaller tractors. Looking for options. This year we used 8 grain bins at 3 farms.

We have used 200's and XT's for years on the 8-61 Westfield with hyd driven swing auger and for the last 5 years on the 10-71 Westfield with mechanical driven swing auger. I will say we don't go to the end of the stroke of the lift cyl on the 8-61 for the bins it handles. But on the 10-71, it's close to the end of the cyl.  When the lift cyl is extended on the auger, we do lower the lift arms to put a little more fluid back in the system. A D-19 has basically the same hyd capacity of the 190 but a gasser might not be efficient. Hope this helps a little.

I use my D19 on my 10 X 71 swing auger just about all of the time, and have used my D17 on an occasion or two, as well as my one ninety gasser. D17 is a little short of power, so you can't feed the auger as fast. One ninety gasser is a pain to climb in and out of to turn on the PTO. D 19 works perfectly. When lifting the auger it is a little slow, but does get there. And if lifting it very high, sometimes we have to add hydraulic oil. It does make for "overfull" hydraulics when you let the auger back down, but when just moving to another bin, and raising it back up again, it's never created a problem. Been doing it for years. Being your auger is two inches smaller, your D 17 should handle it, just add more hydraulic oil to it. Darrel

Darrel, shhh, don't tell anybody but we start the 200 and XT from the ground. Left hand pushes down the clutch and right hand on the button, standing on the left side of the tractor. The pto is never disengaged. As soon as the engine starts, let clutch out, throttle up and go. This is not the hyd pto, so not hard to put in gear standing next to platform, if need be. But the hyd pto on the 200 is just as easy, it is always engaged. The only time I hit the seat of the auger tractor, is when it's going to a different bin. A tarp strap on the hyd lever for the swing away auger keeps it engaged.
I do make sure the tractor is in neutral, EVER TIME, before hitting the start button.

Leon, is the swing always running (while tractor is)?

Leon, that's how I run the D19. But with the cab on the one ninety, that's a little tough to do. Darrel

I wish I knew how to post pictures. Don't even try to explain. I am just not computer compatible. That is my wife's trickery.

Anyway, my 200 has the PTO lever on the right side and the PTO starts like a 7000 or 8000. I run the 540 auger on the small 1000 side of the PTO. The tractor runs at 1300 rpm. I put an arm out behind with 8000 throttle cables and levers on it. The other end of the cables go to the PTO and throttle levers. I can start and stop the auger and throttle up and down from out behind. It runs a 10x71 Allaway.

Freedguy, yep. I start the 200 hyd pto with pto and remote for auger in the on position. If the tractor is running, there is grain in the auger.

Did the cables come off of something or did you have them made?

Late 8000 throttle cable. A long out side 7000 series hydraulic lever was added to to the 200 PTO lever. When the cables are not hooked up, it feels right when you put it in your hand.
