| I have a WD and the long rod that goes to the control lever slipped out. When looking at the rod I noticed the short rod and the long rod cross closer to the pump and look like the would bind. Are these rods suppose to cross or run semi-parallel? If someone has photos of proper positioning of the rods I would like to see them. Also when I raise my blade there is a lot of rattling. Is this common or a sign something is broken inside? I'm a newbie so any help is appreciated. |

Thanks I thought mine looked wrong. The upper pivot has the short rod attached to the rear hole and an open hole towards the front. What is the front hole for?The upper pivot also has what looks like a thumb screw that comes from the engine side. Is the thumb screw to adjust friction so the lever does not raise or does it have another purpose?  |

The small short rod is supposed to be straight not bent like yours although that has no effect on operation.It just connects the two levers and as long as it's length is adjusted correctly it don't matter. The thumb screw locks those two plates together going into that fwd hole which moves.....wait a minute,your shaft is 180 deg out of phase.That rod is supposed to be foward,then that hole is rearward and will rotate to line up(almost) with the thumb screw.That upper shaft/plate/valve is the "hold" valve and the linkage (both)has to be adjusted so pump goes in full stroke with lever all the way up and quits pumping with lever in "half" position(or nearly so) and the hold valve is positioned to hold. YOU NEED AN OPERATORS MANUAL!!!
That little rod sticks about an inch through the set screw on my 45,not clear at the end.

| When I was on here before there wasn't a picture. Serious bass-ackwards issues there with the small rod and hold valve plate. Get an Op manual. |

Thanks for your help. I was able to get pdf of the manual and it has a good explanation of the hydraulics. Hoping for success.
