| I have restored a 1949 Model G. I am not getting any oil pressure or oil circulation. The oil pump is running backwards. How can this be? |

What makes you think it is running backwards? Take the plug with the slot in it and see what is behind it. If you have not had it out it could plugged behind the plunger.

Try priming the pump where the oil pressure gauge is installed. Remove pressure gauge and squirt oil in with an oil can to prime the pump. Reinstall the pressure gauge and give it a try. The Allis G like the Farmall Cub have the oil pump located a distance above the oil in the oil pan. A dry pump has difficulty pulling oil up from the pan. Squirting oil as describe will fill the pump with oil.

The ONLY way oil pump can run backwards is if teh engine is going backwards... as far as I know... ------------- 3 D-14s,A-C forklift, B-112 Kubota BX23S lil' TOOT( The Other Orange Tractor) Never burn your bridges, unless you can walk on water |

| I have the engine pulled apart now to look at the pump. Everything looks good. Will reassemble and try to prime the pump as you suggested. |

| I have reassembled the engine and attached it to the tractor. Primed the oil pump as suggested and fired it up. Running like a champ with good oil pressure. Thanks to everyone for the help. |
