This is a poor attempt to recreate a D-17 that I worked on at Brubaker Co., Prairie City, IA in 1967. It had a raised platform with the seat raised and foot wells. The clutch and brake pedals were longer, I think but I don't remember for sure about that. Was I looking at a prototype of a 170? If this was done locally, it was an excellent job of work.
I have never found anyone who has heard of this modification. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I saw one D-19 DIESEL that had something similar done to it. Didn't help the engine reliability one bit.

There used to be a D17 or 19 at dealer here that had one in the weeds with a raised platform. Might still be there, it had clutch and brake extensions as well as the hyd. levers. I climbed up on it and the first thing that struck me was the visibility. It seemed like a much bigger tractor

Man, it's been 40 yrs ago, but I think that D-19 diesel I saw had a 7000 series steering wheel on it to get it up higher to match the new platform.

My Dad did that sort of thing with Grandpa's D19 diesel before trading it in 1966 for his new 190 XT at Benson Implement in Pipestone, MN. Would any of you gentlemen have serial numbers for the above mentioned D19 tractors? Would be awesome if this tractor is still around and could possibly be brought home. Grandpa bought the 19 new, I have a couple pics of him on it, and of Dad sitting on the D14 in the same position as Grandpa was on the 19, in the same part of the yard, after Dad redid the 14.

Brake/ clutch travel will be increased. Not sure how positive or negative it would be, but may be worth mocking up to see the ergonomic affects.
