I'm considering buying an 06' 379 Pete with an Acert C15 in it set to 615 hp. Engine was inframed at 900k and is now at 1,050,000. I've heard good and bad about these engines and looking for feedback from anyone who's actually dealt with them.

we got the same truck. factory settings. I think the only thing ill change at some point is that compared to our old truck with the single big turbo, this one takes longer to giddy up. seems like once the first turbo gets the second turbo spoolin its good...… someday when one blows its cookies we will switch to one big one like the old truck had. think they make a kit.

Who did the overhaul? If it wasn't a CAT shop is there any warranty left on the engine work. That would be the big factor for me

A lot of people running the C-15 Acert engines get the twin turbo setup replaced with a big single. But a Cat ship will turn you away afterwords and all warranty is void.

In 06 they came out with a DOC DPF on them. If this one has the spark plug after the high pressure turbo, stay away. If its a pre DOC DPF, the only real trouble was the intake actuators failing causing the engine to derate. As far as 615 hp, have you seen ehat calibration is in the ECM?

Used to run a twin on a 379 C15. Boss switched it to a single and WOW, that thing would run. Good thing I didn’t have it when I was in my 20s and 30s.

6NZ is the serial # prefix that everybody changes to single turbo fuel setup. The twins turbo is the only down fall. I've built soooooooo many c15, c16, c18's and 3456's it's not even funny. Really good engines and we run them in trucks, gen sets, to drive power units, rig floor engines etc. Well over 100 engines.
The little c13's are good engines in light duty trucks not class8.

This engine was rebuilt at Cedar Rapids peterbilt,as far as the spark plug deal I'll have to double check to see. It definitely not a dog by any means no this thing will pull. A buddy of mine owns the truck but has only had it a few months.

I've sold a few of the conversion kits to go to the big single turbo. They are expensive, but apparently well worth it. lol!
