Hey all,
I did a bunch of searches with a few different key phrases, and never could find much, so I figured I would start a thread in case someone in the future needed the same info.
What is the best way to remove a 7000 series dash? (Maroon belly 7040 if it matters) If it was a simple replacement of something I would do it from the top since that is easier to access, but this is a new to me unit with packrat damage, so there is going to be some major wiring reconstruction that would be made easier if the dash came out 6 inches.

there's 2 allen head bolts at top, and 3 on bottom, then I think it will pull away, only be wires holding it.

Ed is right about the allen head bolts. The worst part of pulling the plastic dash is it won't come straight out. The sides of the plastic extend into the orange panels on the side (you can see where they follow the curve on the lower part of the plastic). You have to loosen up at least one side to get the dash panel pulled up. Now just to get the sides loosened you have to remove several panels to get at the bolts under those side pieces. Would have been great to just be able to pull it straight up. If you need to I can take a few pictures of the panels I have apart here.
