But before we know it, winter will be here. Been getting down to 40 at night the last few nights, and highs in the 60's. Last Friday when we were shutting down at work for the weekend, we were sweating like hogs. Monday and Tuesday, we were thinking about getting out the long underwear. Guess that the old saying about ND weather; "If you don't like the weather here, just wait five minutes and it'll change" holds pretty true. We did get some much needed rain on Monday. I suppose some of the farmers harvesting wheat weren't happy about it, but we needed it for fire suppression if nothing else. It may help some of my corn; other corn is already too far gone. I am sure that we'll still get our fair share of warm weather yet, but this spell is just a gentle reminder to us that it is time to start thinking about getting ready for winter. I suppose it may get some folks, one in particular, fired up about servicing out a snow machine and having it ready to go on a minutes notice. Won't break my heart if it waits about six months to run, though. Darrel

I do not care for cold...down to 40 is not bad but freezing and below is not comfortable to me... of course I dress for it but cold is still cold. I can 'put up with' the heat a little easier.

Hey Floyd, up here in MN you get used to the cold but the dang wind will kill ya. Get above 80 and it starts getting uncomfortable for me. My mother will wear a sweater in 85-90 degree weather, always has. I have to run the heat at 74 min in the winters for her and she's bundled up inside still, I run the summers at 78 and I'm in shorts only.. So I understand. Winters coming, dread the wind but love the ice fishing.

Man, I gotta be getting old, already moving  this and that trying to make room to make whatever 'he whoshall not be named' sends me this Winter. Can't stand the heat or humdidity since heat stroke of '14. Cold freezes toes and one finger(no... the RING finger...)
Sad thing is I can't even sell a rider that starts, runs, cuts grass for $120. Dang, probably have to store it til Spring....

There is absolutely no heat that will feel as warm as the heat from a good old fashioned wood burning furnace. When I was a kid, we had one in the basement, and man was it ever cozy down there when we had that thing ginning. It was the REAL OLD style, complete with an oven and stove top. Once in a while we'd even cook with it. Very nostalgic. Darrel

I have two philosophies.  1.  I live in MI so it's going to get cold or hot, live with it.  2.  You can put on more clothes to get warmer, but you can only take off so many and you'll still be hot!

It's nice having a house with a furnace and central air so I can enjoy the extremes outside, sitting inside looking out the windows!

I am one of those that tolerates heat better than most, cold does not really get to me until the wind fires up, been working in 20 degree weather shirt sleeved and not felt it.

Forecasts are not looking so pretty, almanac for Here says colder than normal and wetter than normal. May see early snows. Glad I retired, screw getting out in the crap to get to a job, have one here!!

As to that ND weather quote, they stole that from MO, "If you do not like the weather here, wait fifteen minutes, will change!!"

I wouldn`t mind winter if we could get rid of January, Febuary, and March.

I've heard it both in Ohio and Colorado, I guess it changes fairly quick no matter where you are!

I've learned to just live with whatever Old Mother Nature dishes out.  The weather the last couple of years has been really weird.  Now we're being deluged with rain water again.  Nothing for July and August and now it won't quit again.  Hot, cold all over the place.  Cold winter, no snow.  Cold winter LOTs of snow.  Long winter, short winter.  Just plain weird...
