I got a petronix igniter put on my 190XT gas this spring and everything seemed to work well. New flamethrower coil, wires, and autolight 405 plugs. This summer in the hayfield it has developed an issue. It starts and runs great for the first 30 minutes, but then once everything is good and hot, it begins to slobber, and miss, and has little power. Local mechanic has suggested going to a cooler plug to prevent premature ignition? I pulled a couple plugs tonight and they all look like the pictured. Does going to a colder plug make sense to you all?

Is it using oil? The plug looks like it. Cooler plug might not cause pre-ingition, but I think you'll be getting oil fouling. How's the timing? Is the coil getting hot? Carefully touch it after 30 minutes and see. You are using suppressor wires, I hope.

It does use oil. Timing is set, was set when the EI was installed.
