You can get it off without removing the frame rail, but you have to depress and hold the cam followers, two short 1/4 in bolts flattened and inserted at the pivot points will work.  You may have to cut the heads off the bolts.

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

Frame rail off is the best but its not the eaisiest!:)
I have never taken one out with the frame rail in place. I have heard about nails holding things too.

Four fingers on the four pumping plungers and it will come right out. No problem.        MACK

Harder to put back on with out ripping new paper thin gasket and or getting dirt or grease onto back side of pump. Just takes some patience. It needs to find the right angle to slide in.

4 of8 or 10 penny nails flattened a little and bent just a hair inserted between each roller arm and housing. Then pump will slip in .

As others have said, It will come out and go back in without taking off the rail. Just need to wiggle it in and out. The pickup tube bends downward from the bottom so you will need to pick it up and tilt it so it will clear. The hold valve unbolts from the top. I found it easier for me to disconnect one line at the adapter on the back of the hold valve and the others can be disconnected at a swivel connection on the other end of the hose.
Also seems like i may have double nutted a couple mounting studs to remove them and that gave me a little more clearance. It's been a few years though. Hard for me to remember things from yesterday. LoL...
After thinking a bit. It may have just been the bottom stud i took out. Seemed to make it a little easier going back in.

When you get it out make sure you clean oil sump, mine was black slime on the bottom.  Makes me wonder how long the engineer worked on this to make the least possible amount of room to r&r pump.

You'll probably mess it up the first time.  I always do.

Take off the rail, fewer than a dozen bolts.  Chase all threads, clean, make room, give yourself a good chance to get it right.

If it leaks, it will be easy to fix next time.

Put gasket I last. With pump started in hole, slide gasket around pickup tube and onto studs then pump onto studs. Have hundreds out and in over the last 50+ years and never tore a gasket.    MACK

I know this is an old thread, but perhaps someone is still around. Does anyone know where to get a pump rebuild kit? Is it difficult to rebuild?

AGCO still sells rebuilt parts and kits for these. I rebuilt mine about 12 years ago. It's not hard, just be careful. Get a WD45 service manual off email, it explains the rebuild well.

I think Chris pointed a thread of a rebuild a while back

Thanks! I called AGCO and they no longer carry any replacement parts for the hydraulic pump. Any ideas of aftermarket resources?

I'd be suspecious of that answer. Sounds like lazy parts help. I'm sure you can't buy plungers or sleeves but can't believe they don't still have seat, balls and springs. Everything else is gaskets and orings.

Hello Albert. It’s been a while. I believe you sold me my rebuild kit for one of my 45’s back in the Dean ag days. Glad to see you on here.
I just bought a new project. Will be calling you.

I would get a parts books off ebay or lookup the part on AGCO's site. I bet they'd have them if you actually gave them part numbers.

You may ask Brenda at Sandy Lake Implement. That is where I got my kit. But it was a couple years ago?? There are a lot of parts in there! Just sayin.....

 Chris
