I have a D10 that jumps out of 3rd gear constantly, unusable in that gear. I haven't torn into it yet, just looking for guidance on what to look for. Three 8 hour work days for someone who has done it before....... but that is just for the tranny repair. add another 4 days when you find the oil soaked brakes, changing inner and outer axle seals and maybe a few bearings. ETC... you need a special puller to pull brake drums, you can make one fairly easy, that's another 2 hour job. If you do it yourself and are steady working and ordering parts, plan on having your shop tied up for a month. Pressure wash it real good before you start. I have, took me a bit of time. Two Options: 1: Remove right side axle from tractor, then remove transmission side cover and check the Shift Forks for wear. From this view you can also look at the gear teeth and dog gears to see what shape they are in. The Dog gear and sleeve are what hold the gears in line. If the teeth are rounded, then they wont hold the sleeve and it pops out of gear.    2: If the above indicates repair is needed, then you have to remove everything from Torque tube back and take it apart. Recommend as noted to do bearings and seals as you don't want to do this again

| Rule of thumb, $1000 for every gear it jumps out of. There will be some who will suggest band aid fixes that might work for a while. The above advice is right on IMO. |
