Anyone familiar with or use Smitty's products? This one in particular for use where AGCO / Allis 821 is specified: http://www.smittysinc.net/catalog/hydraulic-fluids/tractor-hydraulic-fluids/super-s-premium-universal-tractor-hydraulic-fluid/" rel="nofollow - http://www.smittysinc.net/catalog/hydraulic-fluids/tractor-hydraulic-fluids/super-s-premium-universal-tractor-hydraulic-fluid/ I only ask as its available locally at both TSC and Orschelns and in Orschlens in particular, out of maybe 15 or more related products on the shelf, this bucket was one of only two that I found that listed AGCO 821 on the label. The other tractor that the D15 might share hydraulics with would be a Massey 1100. Would like to use the same fluids in both if that is possible. |

I can imagine. Don't ask about politics, religion, money......or hydraulic oil? Frankly, I don't have a brand, preference, or bias, I'm just looking for guidance on what to get.....as long as I can get it locally, and it works well and is what the tractor needs. I've read AGCO 821........but very few cans carry that on the label and of those that do, many say it is an old standard and not suited to modern tractors. Seems to be a whole lot of stuff that seems to be more/better. With labels like ISO 32, 46 and 68. FWIW, to top things off on this new to me tractor (D15 Allis and will also be helping to maintain a Massey 1100, a 1968 brute). For now, I am using Travelers from TSC. If that is as good as any, for these old geezers and geezettes, then so be it. But if one of those other ISO products is as good or better, them I'm ok with them too.

ISO 32 is a 10 weight oil, I know that. You need a 30 weight...

I use the Travelers Premium hydraulic oil,think its OK for most older applications.Unless you have a tractor with internal brakes that run in the oil like some JD tractors then you need to run exactly what they say to run.

Descriptions appear to be exactly the same, yet are different. So are they different, or are they the same thing, differing only in quantity.......2 gallons vs. 5 gallon pail? Wears me out just having to ask. BTW, given a choice, I prefer to do business with local operations like Orschlens vs. TSC but no more oil than I"m buying, I can get it from anywhere, including the local Ford/NH dealer. Or even MFA oil for those in MO. But if TSC is my best local option, I'm OK with that too. I'm only going to be buying a few gallons, so I'm not as sensitive to price as those buying hundreds of gallons per year.
