Hey everyone. Picked up a d14 about a month ago at auction. Runs like a top everything works like it should but I've got a leak on the steering pedestal right where the steering input shaft goes in. Question is can this seal be changed without pulling the front end? And if so is it a common seal that could be picked up at a NAPA? Thanks in advance for your help!

I think it could be done without completely pulling out the front end. Radiator may have to come off and with a jack underneath the bell housing, loosen up the side frame bolts to the right side and then remove the left side frame. Steering shaft pin removed from the knuckle and pull out the steering shaft. This might require pulling the front end forward an inch ?? with the mounting bolts loosened up. The seal should come from an AGCO dealership. When they send you one, it will be correct. Not saying you can't get one from a seal supplier, but you'll have to give them your old seal to measure up.

Thanks Dr. Sounds like it'll be pretty close to completely removing the front... Guess I'll just keep adding oil until this winter. Thank you good sir.

Much easier to do with the front axle pulled away from the engine.
