I recently bought a 180 diesel that was parked running in a barn back in 1995. It cranks over, but wont start....not even a little smoke while cranking. I loosened the lines on the injectors, pumped the primer no luck. The pump has fuel in it, the filter is full. I can't even get fuel to come out of the loosened the injector lines. Any ideas?

at the least it sounds like metering valve is stuck.Hopefully it's not been that long with biodiesel. If the tractor is worth keeping, line up timing marks and take pump off for freshening up.Likely won't need hard parts, just cleaning and seals. If bio....I can't say.If you could get it running, you'll probably be pulling pump in near future anyway.

did you pull the shutoff  knob out? Just asking a simple question.

I've seen that be the problem several times especially at auctions when guys not familiar
with the 180 and 185 diesels are starting the tractors.Good theft prevention feature though just leave the fuel shut off in when you stop it(LOL)

The pump knob is pulled all the way out. Looks like I'll be pulling the pump off.

very common to have plungers and metering valve stick in these Roosa pumps when they sit a long time(not so long with poor quality bio) but 1995 was before bio-diesel issues began. Its just likely all gummed up with varnished up old diesel.

have someone pump the primer as you turn over the engine.
