I'm looking at a 7030 and have a couple questions. Where is the serial number located and were they only made one year? (1974). If they were made for only a short period of time, what was the reason. Also what were some of the problems w/ the tractor. Thank you for all replies.

I think they were made two years...then they changed the horsepower ratings and added more models.
They were a very solid tractor.

Had one when new, was pretty good unit for me, the upgrades were some to the hyd couplers and I think heavier cables for the hyd levers

I'm looking at one from a private party not an auction. He is asking $5000.00, but I think can be bought a little cheaper. Thanks for all the replies.

They were made from Feb 1973 thru the Fall of 1974....a short two year run.

Official dealer introduction was January 1973. We run one and a 7050. Great tractors. Some of the visual differences that the 7040/7060 have, were, as mentioned, better hydraulic couplers and remote cables. The 7040/7060 had slightly larger diameter rear axles. Location of cab grab handles were changed. There were minor internal changes too. Pretty much all minor changes. The 7030 was about 131 PTO hp while the 7040 was bumped to about 136. I'm really not too sure why the number was changed to 7040.

Got it bought for $2800.00. Tractor appears ok. Cab must have been an add-on (year around). Cab is in rough condition. Seat is shot. Where would anyone recommend I look for a new seat.

I put a Grammer Air ride seat in my 7050 and do not regret it, though pricey.
