I have a CA that we bought last summer and I would like to move the wheel spacing but found the eccentrics stuck. I have been spraying PB blaster on them but no luck so far. so do any of you have some advice that would help. Thanks Randy

I use a 1inch impact gun but I know not everyone has one of those so the next best option would be heat.

Be careful with those CA eccentrics. That little square nose is not near as strong as the hex head on other models.
I would remove all 3 eccentrics from the wheel, put them in a vise, and heat them at an appropriate area, one at a time.
Use the reverse end of an extension to fit the square head.

I unbolted mine and beat them off the wheel. Been a few years but I think I was able to re use the bolts after cleaning every thing up.

Exactly what Dick said. Don't ever apply heat to a wheel with a tire mounted and aired up.

Once unbolted, soak the clamp i your favorite penetrating potion. Then take a hammer, and a punch, and get the cam moving front to back. Once it moves a little, then try twisting, CCW and CW. once it moves a little each way, alternate with an air impact. Don't over torque, as others have said, or you'll break off the head. When you get it moving on penetrating oil, dis-assemble, and coat with never-seize lube...

I have a wheel wrench that came with the tractor and have put quite a bit of torque on them but was afraid of twisting the head off. I will try to take them off and soak them in snake oil and see if that works thanks for the help Randy

can you take the bolts out of the center; an take a block of wood an a mall an knock the center out' like you would on a wd ?

I used a 20mm socket and an air impact to move the eccentrics on my D-17

P,P, and PP (Patience. Persistence. and Panther Pi$$). Remove tire from tractor. unbolt the eccentrics from the centers. use a block of wood and pound the center out of the rim. Remove the retaining rings from the eccentric bolts. Apply the Panther Pi$$. Tap the eccentric bolts from both ends until they move, try turning. Repeat until you can remove the bolts. Clean bolts on wire wheel and use emery cloth on the bolt holes to remove the corrosion. Apply never seize to the bolts and re-assemble. Lean tire against wall (outside facing you) and install a bottom eccentric housing w/block on rail at about the 5 O'clock position. install the bolts to the center, install the other bottom eccentric housing and block on the other rail and slide it down to approx. the 7 O'clock and install the mounting bolts to the center. Repeat for the top two eccentrics. Tighten the eccentric mounting bolts to the center. Clean the center hole, hub and wheel bolts and apply never seize and re-mount the tire to the tractor. I purchased an 8 point 1/2" impact socket from Snap On that works great on the CA eccentric bolt heads. Now that I have reminded myself of how to; time to go after the frozen eccentics on my D14.

Randy, I've done LOTS of them. Take them off the wheel and then throw them into a good campfire and leave em over night. They'll practically fall apart. Take the snap rings off and use a wire wheel to clean them up. Use never sieze on the bolt part where it goes through the eccentric, NOT anywhere else. Make it a practice to turn them at LEAST once a year. I do mine twice, once in the fall and once in the spring. They STILL turn easily.

It doesn't take much effort to twist off the square-headed eccentrics. Yep, I did it. Use patience and what everybody else has said.

I have one wheel off and the eccentrics off and in a small can of diesel there were Three with the cam and two set screw lock clamps am having trouble getting them loose. if the diesel doesn't work I will try the bon fire thing next. Thanks Randy
