| The power director will not stay in the forward position without putting pressure on it. It does not snap back to neutral, but just slides back. There is no problem in the back (low speed) position. Any help is appreciated. |

My Series II slides out of high range occasionally and yet never slips when engaged. There have been discussions here on this in the past and the cause is generally attributed to worn ramps which no longer hold the rollers in position. I intend to adjust my clutch to see if that helps but I doubt that it will. I picked up a couple of complete power director clutches on e-bay a couple of years ago for very little money. One is in excellent shape including the ramps, so I may wind up changing out the whole unit. Here is a link to a couple of You-Tube videos showing how to rebuild and adjust the clutch and also explaining what goes wrong with the ramps. After viewing these, you will have a good understanding of just how the PD clutch works. The D-15 and D-17 use basically the same P.D. If it is not snapping back, rather sliding back, I would suspect it has to do with the stick itself. Does the button still have a good spring on it? Thanks for the help guys. Actually the lever was loose on the shaft. Tightened it up and I think we're okay. Easy fix this time.
