A question on lights on my HD16 for this information packed group.
Does the tractor have to be running for the lights to work? On my dash switch, it has a middle position and a left and a right.
I have fixed a few breaks in the wiring and the tractor fires up and roars great. However, cannot seem to get dash light to work and wondering if tractor has to be running for the switch to be energized.
I have the tractor down with he exhaust manifold being fixed and then painted so don't have the tractor in a position to run. Its a really small detail but I want to get the darn thing to work and am also cutting in two new 24 volt headlights soon as well.
thanks everyone.

I dont have any lights and have never used the light switch but Im pretty sure the only thing that will energize by running the engine (through oil pressure switch) is hour meter. switch should be hot all the time.

Test light and/or volt meter are your friends in situations like this.
