I have an older gentleman that has run the front wheels off his 175 Allis Chalmers. I think I have figured the bearings out but he needs the nuts that hold it all together. He is an hour or more away and for whatever reason not capable of measuring or giving me any idea about the nut that holds the front hubs on. Looks like the Allis part number is 70256585 but I can't find anyone who will tell me what kind of nut it is. I assume a "castle" nut but that could be wrong and no idea on the thread. Couple of AGCO places I called said it looked like they could order it but did not have stock and it was pricey in my mind for a nut(didn't know or wouldn't tell me the specs). Just trying to help the old guy out. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It is a fine thread castle nut, but I do not know the size off hand.  For a "automotive" type nut like that, you might be able to get one at Napa.  Some times I have asked my local Napa:  Do you happen to have XXXXX for an Allis Chalmers 175 tractor?  I have been surprised sometimes.

I would imagine it may have ruined the threads too,

At best you will probably have to chase the threads. Might have to take the spindles to a machine shop and have new threads cut. Where are you located in Georgia? We have a few Forum members scattered about the state. And also, Welcome to the Forum. You can find lots of advice about Allis Chalmers on here as well as just about anything else.

Steiners and DJS Tractor Parts are both showing this nut for the 175:

I don't recall seeing anything like this on an Allis Chalmers, I would think it would be a castellated nut and a cotter pin or a thin plain nut with a special washer and cotter pin.

Take the one off other side and measure or take to get a match.
