I am wanting to remove the bypass oil filter as recommended by lotsa guru's here,, can the lines to and from the filter be plugged?? or do they need to be looped together? Next ,, the oil cooler is seeping coolant out of a "weep" hole at the rear of the oil cooler, so far there is no mixing of oil and coolant. I have ordered O-rings and gaskets, looks like this repair is not to complicated,, just like to know if there are any "watch out for" ... I'll have the cooler tested if I can find some place that will test it...

Re: the oil cooler When you get it apart, make sure you clean all of the cooling tubes completely. It always surprises me how much stuff gets plugged into those things. |

Nope,, its the big cartridge type,, if it was a spin on I'd keep it and not worry about it.. I would like to find a spin on type to put in this ones place, but its going to go away.. |

When you press cooler out of housing, be real careful not to bend edges where o rings seal. Put the correct oring in the correct location. Two are for violent, two are for oil. MACK |

| For the spin-on by-pass filter base I used a fleetguard base that accepts the LF777 filter. I installed it were the luberfiner was previously located. When I bought my 7080 someone had removed the luberfiner housing. I used 1/4 hyd. hose and fittings for the plumbing. Make sure though you use the restrictor orifice that comes off the oil cooler. I use a Donaldson P55777 filter on mine. Our two 7060's still have the luberfiners and are changed every other oil change. Both have earned their pay and have an easy life now. Good Luck, Mike |

I got a base ordered for the spin-on type bypass filter,, I will update with a part number when I get it tomorrow.. now I will still have extra oil capacity and cooling effect from the extra filter... AGCO parts shows the restrictor orfice is in the inlet of the luberfiner filter case, also shows check valves in the in and out lines,,, do I need to keep the check valves in the system also??  the black circled hole is where its leaking coolant.. any special lube on the O-rings??

| for Peterson and others that may want to know, the base for a spin-on bypass filter is WIX 24750, a good parts store that carries parts for the bigger trucks should be able to get ya one,,, shoot,,, may be available 'online',,, I haven't checked.. mine was about $65.00 |

The weep hole is normal. All of the 426 engine coolers have one. It just lets you know when you need new o-rings. I have seen some guys braze or weld them shut.

| I figured that weep hole is supposed to be there,, jus like the ones on water pumps and the early 4020 JD's,..to let ya know that the o-rings are failing/worn out....heard of people doing the same thing on the deere's...plugging, welding, etc... |

| I used the filter numbers that Mike Kroupa gave in post above and ordered a base that fit those filters..LF777, P55777, I got a Baldwin B7577, cause that's what the parts store I use carries |
