Amazing the battery box is still intact like most that age. Hope it goes high for the seller.

That would be the perfect companion to set alongside my family's all original All-Crop Super 100! But I know it will be out of my price range. Hope whoever gets it brings it to Hutch! As most of you know, they are featuring "surviving original" equipment this year. I'd love to see that tractor, and document the locations of all the decals, colors of different parts, etc. for people in the future. You know how guys always squabble about how "that decal should be over there"...."No it shouldn't! It goes HERE!"...etc. Being able to reference this tractor would hopefully put an end to that sort of thing.

I believe that is the one I looked at last summer at a Bobcat dealer, tried to deal with them a little and when I went back it was gone. Not sure of this but it fits the description to a T. It was as original as you will find in my opinion.

I thought the final bid was $12,250, but I see the Mecum website says $12,600. Either way, it sold pretty well.

Sorry. I meant day 3. I had clicked on ac45dave post that said Day 2 to watch the sale yesterday.
The tractors on day 3 of all brands sold on the low side, I thought. Seems the crowd thinned out as the eager spenders went home.

That's a whole lot more than I'd ever think about paying for the WD45,doubt I'd fork that out for one just off the show room floor .Every time it gets cranked the value goes down.

I just don't get it. I am happy for the seller, but what makes this "original" so special that someone would pay 8-10 times what it is worth?
It doesn't have an hour meter, so we can't know how few hours are on it.
The shine is clearly not original, waxed okay, but was it clear coated? No longer original if clear coated.
While I will agree there aren't a lot of good looking original factory paint jobs left out there, but there are some. I know there are people like my grandpa and his brother that would wash their tractors once a week, and wax them often. So there have to be more than just this one, so why such a high sale price? What was so special about it?

Just to clear up some confusion, this WD45 sold on Saturday which was the Last day of the auction, most people call this day 2 because nothing is sold on Thursday, its just a look around day. I understand where there was a bit of confusion because the have the sale listed as the 5th-7th, but nothing happens on the 5th. I was there both days and the tractors on Saturday brought good money for the most part, just as good as Friday in my opinion as this WD45 represents.

Every time I see an original anything sell like that I think back to a time in the hobby when people started with excellent tractors just like that one and the first thing they did was gave it a quick spray job to spruce it up. At the time there was no reason to fool with the lower end tractors that people later dumped tons of money into (and now wished they hadnt) and those who repainted the nice originals,, now wished they hadn't either, LOL.
