I am having trouble finding what was used to shift the pulley in over the lh rear axle. I see what is used for the hyd lever but haven't found that linkage. Also what were the options for the PTO's / belt pulley. We have two in the shop and one has a shifter, the other not.. both have belly mowers which is awkward on the non shifter unit...

Wow, a belly mower you can't shut off? That would be awkward. Personally I've never seen one with a shifter, so I'm not much help.

Main pulley always runs. I have an idler pulley on mine that turns the deck off and on.

Could be these four G manuals, from shop manual, through implement setup manuals, and owner's manual will help answer many questions.

If I remember right, if the G has hydraulic then it has a lever to shift the pulley and hydraulic in and out of gear to gather.

OK, If I have this correct, the belt pulley runs all the time, unless there is a hyd option which in this case there is a shifter, but no linkage to the shifter, just the hyd cyl actuator..
This unit predated OSHA , ha...     Oh and I found out a safety feature, the clutch lock down washer.  This prevents an old man from finding out how fast he can run when he stands beside the unit,  pulls the switch on and then the starter rod and the unit was accidently knocked in gear.
The low weight prevents any broken bones when the unit runs over the left foot...   :-)

I built a linkage for my G.

I accidentally kicked the transmission into gear while climbing on from the left side of mine. The rear wheel climbed up the side of my foot. I grabbed the wheel and stalled the engine. Had a sore ankle for a few days.
