I have an opportunity to buy a 1947 HD10 with a Baker 12' manual angle and tilt dozer blade. The engine was completely overhauled about 28 years ago. It has had very little use since then. Always stored in a barn. Last run about 3 years ago. I don't know if it has an hourmeter, so hours unknown to me. Seller is a friend. His dad bought the dozer in 1952. He says it needs nothing more than a seat cushion. Asking price is $7000.00. Does this sound reasonable?

Track and undercarriage condition play a big factor in pricing something like this. In my opinion this HD10 would have to be prestine to be worth $7000. You can find these machines all over the place from $1500 to $4000. I just bought an HD10w a year ago for $3000 and it had 300 hours on a new motor and a baker hydraulic blade. We had another 10w for many years we sold to a friend for $4000 5-6 years ago. It had a garwood blade and cable control, and we had put a good set of tracks on it.

The issue is if the tracks and rollers are worn out you will spend more fixing that than the whole machine is worth. It can be worn and still work for a long time but if the sprockets are razor sharp and the bushings are worn through, id look at another. that being said these old machines can still work, they are just slower than modern iron, but can be repaired by a person with reasonable skills. long story short, I think 7K is pretty high, you could find a usable one for half the price. just take a look at craigslist across the country.
