I was of the understanding that inching pedals were used with hydraulic clutches, how would an inching pedal work on a traditional clutch? ------------- Me -C,U,UC,WC,WD45,190XT,TL-12,145T,HD6G,HD16,HD20 Dad- WD, D17D, D19D, RT100A, 7020, 7080,7580, 2-8550's, 2-S77, HD15 |

Inching pedal attaches to left side of PD shaft and is strictly mechanical function using your left foot. | A true inching pedal is incorporated into a torque converter drive and releases the brakes and engages the clutch in a timed motion which, if everything is adjusted correctly, will prevent rolling in the opposite direction of desired travel, anyone with forklift experience knows exactly how this works and what a benefit it is, especially in rigging and spotting operations. A pedal on the PD shaft would only allow foot control of the clutch and not combine the releasing of the brakes, might be handy, but I'm not sure what for. |

I have a I600 fork lift with what I would call a inching pedal. You would not want it on a tractor or a fork lift. It is a valve about like drag link steering, with a small cylinder hooked to PD LINKAGE WITH FOOT pedal going to valve. I don't like it. MACK |

Yea Mack, This hydraulic activated one was on my I600/D15. "Yea someone painted the tractor green" This type completely engages engages the power director in fwd or aft and was mostly used on industrial shuttle tractors and a similar set up was on reverse tractor fork lifts. The inching pedal I am referring to only lets you slip the power director clutch when in situations you need to just inch the tractor, it will not fully engage the PD.

It would really be handy for inching backwards to hook up equipment. As its hard to reach the power director handle and see the hitch at the same time. In addition my helpers "Wife and kids" are not as smooth with the foot clutch as one would like. Safe just not smooth. | The extra length of the P.D. shaft was for a left-hand control lever. Usually this was a Fwd-Rev "shuttle-shift". The foot pedal design was hydraulic and totally eliminated the left side hand lever. I suppose you could rig up some sort of manual "inching" pedal, but you'd have to eliminate the neutral latch in order for it to work as you hoped for. |

Dr Allis you explained it exactly as i understand it. However no need to eliminate the neutral latch. Just posion the leaver up out of the notch and a little foward when you need to use the inching feature.
