So we just finished putting in a new clutch and a different block with a total rebuild in the d17. How long should i let it idle and just take it easy to seat everything before I start working it like normal?

Not idle. Throttle up to 1200 or better once you have established oil pressure. Allow coolant to get warm and DYNO it !!!

Yep, I have been told to put her to work so the rings set.

I've never ran one more than 20 minutes before hitting the dyno. Ignition timing has to be set at full throttle, so after it warms up, be sure to do that before dynoing. I usually dyno'd for 30 minutes at half load and full load, let cool down overnite and retorqued head bolts and ran the tappets in the morning.

Ok. Best way to dyno the tractor without the nice machine that hooks to the pto? This is my first rebuild.

Put 200 Bu corn in a wagon and take it down the road. Get it rolling in high about 1/3 throttle and yank it open. When it peaks, chop the throttle till down to speed you started and repeat.Over and over. That will be a good start on seating the rings.
What does this tractor get used for? Would help to do some field work varying speed but that ain't happening around here for a while.

I will pull a 12ft disc with it. Also, a 12ft drill. It is kinda a back up tractor.

Use your disc as the dyno.Do like Doc says and got 1/2 throttle for a time and then open her up.Don't bury the disc and gut it.Just set it for a decent load.
