| I'm trying figure out if my 200 would have a enough hp to pull a 18" 2500 or 2600 disk. I'm farming my grandmother place and she's got clay ground. I would be using the disk the for fall tillage.I was curious if this could be done or not. I know depending on the size of the disc/ blade will depend on what size of disk harrow I can use or is there a good general rule of thumb I could use to figure this out. I know these disk are a heavy disk. Right now I'm using a 13" ft JD RWA disk and that disk is to light for what I want to use it for. Thanks |

| You're not going to be able to go very deep. I would question if you're going to be happy with the job it will do. We used to pull a 21' 2500 series on 9" spacing, with an 8070 2WD, and it was a load for it. |

Back when our 16ft 2600 was new it was pulled with a 200 and its all it could handle as ive been told. Nieghbor has a 16 or 18 2500 behind a 7000 and doesnt have much trouble. Theres a little difference in weight between a 2500 and 2600. ------------- 8070FWA,7080 BlackBelly, 7045,2 200s,D19,D17,G, WD,45,UC,7 AC mowers and lots more! | It should, I pull one with a my 4020. You are only working the seed bed, not plowing with it and it would help if there are duals on the rear of tractor. |

A 2600 is much heavier than a 2500. You would pull an 18' 2500, but I would think you would need duals, especially since you have heavy soil. We have heavy clay soil and some hills. We have a 21' 2500, and often are running behind a heavy offset cutting disc. We pull ours with our 220 w/ duals, our 8030 2wd w/duals, or our 8010 w/singles and FWA. ------------- 8030, 8010, 220, 185, 160, D-17, WD, Unstyled WC, CA, G, 20-35, Gleaner E |

First time ive seen that chart too. | I think a Krause pulls easier. I have a 26’ Krause with 20” blades and have pulled it behind my 7050 with single 20.8s. Grandpa demoed a new 2600 behind his 7060 and it wouldn’t handle it but I forget the size. |

I used to pull a Kewaunee 1010 18' with 20" blades with a 190XT, dualled, fluid and weights, but still had to float it. If I tried to pull it full depth it would PARK the tractor. Disc called for 136 drawbar HP. ------------- Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives. |

| That would be one fine 4020 to till anything in 5th. I have a set of JD 215 14ft discs and my 65 4020 diesel syncro is 4th at best unless I'm just scratching the tracks out. |

| Nothing intended here, just my opinion, id rather pull a smaller with disc, maybe 14 ft. at least your not pulling the guts out of the tractor all the time, AC designed these tractors for 75 % pulling weight at 5 mph ,, |

A lot depends on the soil. My Dad was always quick to remind me of the following story. We needed a new set of discs. At the time, our biggest tractor was a 180. The local Massey Ferguson dealer demoed a set of 12' Massey discs, which the 180 handled well. Dad ended up buying a set of 9 1/2' Bush Hog offsets from our Allis dealer (who he bought almost everything from). I wasn't happy. I liked the bigger Massey discs better. Dad sent me out and watched as I took the depth pins out and threw them in the tractor toolbox. I pulled into the field at about half throttle in fifth gear and casually reached over and dropped the offsets into the sandiest field we had. I ended up thrown into the steering wheel as it killed the engine and shocked me! Those little discs were sunk right to the spools and there I sat. They didn't cut as deep in most of our clay fields, but they still pulled much harder than the Massey's.

| I have a 17’ Crustbuster offset with 24” blades that will pull the guts out of a 200hp tractor. I use it to chop stuff up after cleaning fence rows. I think AC made a 3300 offset that’s identical to my crustbuster. |

Remember you want a handful of a disc. Too small you are tempted to go too fast and ridge. ------------- 8030 and 8050MFWD, 7580, 3 6080's, 160, 7060, 175, heirloom D17, Deere 8760 |

| There’s a lot of variation in soil types and what your doing with a disk that makes your question tricky. If you following a plow prepping seed bed in sandy loam you should be fine. If your in heavy creek bottom clay following fall chisel plowing cutting 4” deep to cut the weeds out by the roots like I do some times it will be a load. I have a 18 1/2’ IH 496 with 22” blades that can be a load on my 8070 FWA. It’s not the ideal practice but sometimes it’s a wet spring and you have to disk deep and plant the next day. Good luck |
