Just finished watching it...kind of a joke of a movie, directed by Robert Redford. One scene the beans are tall, next they are short, next time they are brown. The towns folk come to pick the beans and they are back to spindly plants with nothing on them...everyone squatting like they are picking, but not a bean to be seen LOL! Then they are dancing and partying on the bean field in the end....makes no sense. Never did see a tractor after the plowing scene....

Thanks for the post about the movie Eldon, I saw it when it first came out almost 30 years ago.  I know a couple of the extras in it but had forgotten.  Everyone looks a lot older now and several are no longer with us.  I think the idea with the Allis and Plow was to build furrows.  There was also a Fiat-Allis dozer in one scene.  That old Cat sure bought the farm!  They shot the movie over a couple month period, first in early May then came back in June.  There was talk of shooting the harvest in southern NM but the scenery wouldn't match and it was a pretty low budget movie.  It did pump a lot of money into northern New Mexico, north of Santa Fe.  I heard the car dealers in Espanola and Santa Fe sold several new cars/pickups because of it.
