I have a really nice running 226 lerio engine that I would like to install in a WD-45 will I notice any difference in torgue/hp or RPM'S compared to the regular 226. Definitely a larger and much beefier rod.

is the bore and stroke the same? I heard the heads are different. With the Leroi having the cumbustion chamber in the head instead of the piston like the Allis. Have no firsthand knowledge of that however. I do have a leroi engine myself, but I think it's a 201. Manifolds are different, different magneto, water manifold on top of engine different and block has 2 bolt cover on side for adding a mechanical fuel pump.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall;" id="jsProxy" ="">

the lerio 226 has the same bore stroke and rod journal size. they are two different lerios the 226 with the long rod and canted cap  has a combustion chamber in the head . the other is just like a allis with exception of the crank having a small counter weight thats been drilled for balancing.

Is there a way to tell externally without dissassembling whether a Leroi is a 201 or 226 cubic inch?

So are the LeRoi 226's with the combustion chamber in the head any better performance wise than the ordinary Allis style? Could have bought a complete running 226 LeRoi power unit for $150. The guy selling it claimed it had the chamber in the head. I didn't know there was such an animal and figured he was trying to blow smoke up my backside...

I would purchase it for that and take a chance wither it has a combustion chamber head or not. I personally dont like the head but i like the other pieces that are in the motor that has  the combustion chamber head.
