Just wondering who has restored a combine? Seems like a lot of tractors get restored but don't hear much about the combines. Have a M2 hydro I bought recently and would love to fix her up mechanically and make the cab nice/ fix the heat. Would be nice to make a cover/ tarp for the bin too. Probably replace some bearing ans shoe bushings too. Has a 315 flex that needs some work too, reel tines are all clipped.. needs adjustment so they don't go in the knives I Guess. My 7040 needs a lot of work too but not sure if it's worth it.. cab posts are rotted out at the bottom/ leaks everywhere.. fuel injector pump leaking and governor speeds up randomly. tires are pretty bad too. Like that tractor a lot but seems like so much needs work hard to know where to start. Anyways just wanted to hear from people who have done a restoration/ fixed up a combine or tractor.

| I've done an IH 1440, a Gleaner A2, and an All Crop 66. Haven't painted any of them but mechanically have gone through them. Luckily enough the paint has all been really good on them. |

| I have a '67 E that i bought from the son of the original owner. Grandpa sold it new and the only things I have fixed are some bearings and seat. Needs a rear main seal badly but that will have to wait until the new shop is up! This machine has only sat out a hand full of nights since grandpa sold it so it is really nice. Not much good in 80bu winter wheat. Can't go slow enough! |

I love the little Gleaners (like the E) and want to get one to play with. I've passed on a couple just because I have myself convinced that I don't "Need" one. But if a nice one comes up I'm gonna have to grab it just because. I think most people only go with the tractors because they are smaller and usable. Hard to justify a combine that just sits there and looks pretty, without a crop they are pretty useless.. I bought and restored a John Deere 55 combine (late 50’s model if I recall) got it with the motor locked up but everything else was decent shape. Pulled the motor and had that rebuilt, rebuilt the beater inside and ran new wiring. Looked and ran pretty good when I got done. A few years later I sold it with a 2 row corn head and the grain platform. Last year I pick up an all crop 66 and am in the process of getting it back to a dependable condition for a few acres of oats and wheat. ------------- 190XT Series III, D17 Series IV, D15 Series II, All Crop 66 and a whole mess of equipment. |

I would like to come across a P80 Gleaner. I think it would be fun to combine a bean or two behind a WD45. Always though it would make a great picture if I combined a 160 acre field and pull everything away. Then slip back in, in the middle of the night and park the WD45 and P80 in the corner as if I did the whole farm with it. | I will be doing the mechanical stuff on the combine first.. then probably work on the cab interior. Only problem is That I don't have a shop that can fit farm equipment so everything has to be done outside. |

Yeah me too. I now have a pair of G's that work well. Just need tlc.
