Does anyone know if there is a way to date an All-Crop based on the casting codes of the gearbox? I know the serial number gets you to a year, and you can get a pretty good guess as to what part of year based on that number, but I was hoping I could get down to the exact month, or somewhere close like that. I know with tractors you can date the block, but I don't know if they did such a thing with All-Crops. The combines in mind are my two 60A's. Thanks

A casting date isn't always a good way to zero in on a build date. Transmission castings for a WC as an example had to sit for maybe 60 or 90 days before they were deemed "cured" and then were machined, to then and only then be installed in a tractor. The serial number is stamped when the unit is finished.

Combines built in say oct of 48 are 49 models. Oct.was the production month for the next year for the all-crop combines. So the starting serial number for a 1948 machine was actually built in October of 1947.
