I need to put new tires on my goose neck trailer it is a 20 ton dual tandem type tire man says that the best is to put on 14 ply tires what do you guys run. Thanks Dave

Dont buy Carlisle brand no matter what ANYBODY tells you.They separate and the seller in my case and the manufacture would not stand behind replacement.Make sure you ck the "speed rating" 14ply G rated tires are only rated at 56-mph,even if you say well I dont run much over that take into account that with a load close to max and then add a speed close to max is a trailer tire killer.
I have had good results with Hankook.

I run 14 ply Hankook on mine and they have been very good tires. I always buy a heavier tire than I would probably need but I think its money well spent.

I can't help with tires but please carefully inspect the BRAKES ! Be sure they all are working, good wires, etc.

I am trying some new Goodyear made in USA trailer tires, they dont have alot of tread to start with, but nice thick sidewalls, a good speed rating (87 mph IIRC) and did I mention made in USA? :)
IIRC its a Goodyear Endurance but I could be wrong. Its a pretty recent product, so many dont know about it yet. I have my doubts with it being a Goodyear, but I will give it a chance being made in USA.

When I was selling tires we sold nothing but Hankook because they just didn't give trouble, and I've sold hundreds of them. Not meaning to hurt someones feelings, but Goodyear is he last tire I would run. Sumitomo is not a bad tire either, but doesn't come up to a Hankook. IMHO

I have a new pair of hankook on the front end of my F-250 have been very happy with them. Next time I need trailer tires on my 8 tire trailer I am going to buy Hankook.

I went from 16" wheels and tires to 17.5" wheels and tires. I have a 40' low profile gooseneck trailer. The trailer being low profile limited me to a tire size that only had an 8 ply rating. With the loads I was hauling these tires were only providing me with about 10,000 miles before developing problems .The trailer has two 12,000 lbs. rated dual wheel axles. I went with Firestone tires at 16 ply ratings. The 17.5 wheel and tires actual weight is almost double that of the 16" wheel and tire. A lot more rubber per tire than the 16". These tires run with 120 -125 PSI . I have over 30,000 miles on this set up with no issues and now noticeable wear . The cost is more but I've found that extra cost is worth it. They have a 65 MPH rating which is the max speed I like to run at for my best fuel mileage. Rodney

I spent 22+ years in the farm tire business. Those guys are steering you right. If I were buying a new trailer it would have the HD 17.5 tires and rims on it. We converted a lot of tandem axle trailers to these. The owners got a lot more miles out of them and had far less flats.

I have Goodyear 14 ply tires on one trailer. True the tread is shallower, but they are regroovable. The other has Hankook 14 ply tires. No problems from either.
