Will the later series 4 d17 through 175 gas (with pipe thread)manifold clear the air cleaner on a 45? Thank you, Kevin

Yes it will fit but you might need to shift the air cleaner back and you might need to take a hammer to the tube a little bit too. If you use the D-17/170 manifold on a wd45 think about what muffler you to use to clear the hood.

I was hoping to locate the early d17 series 1 or 2 muffler. I'm not sure what's available though. Are the new 45 manifolds improved in wall thickness over the originals?

I would say that if you're not farming over 100A per year for the next 20,you don't need to worry about wall thickness. I think my Vinson has more meat at the Ex runners than factory.

Most new manifolds are drilled for 7/16" studs like a D-17/170/175 have. So, in the case of a WD-45 with 3/8" studs, just position the manifold forward as far as the larger hole will allow.

First-- I appreciate the thought processes from all replies. I am working on a "57 tractor and plan to use this on the tedder & roll bar rake mostly. The tractor has been went through at least once that I can see so far and I'm trying to make improvements as I go. Current manifold is a replacement with extra material casted toward the center ports and under the bottoms -- has pin holes burnt through on #4 side wall and #3 lower face, though it visually looks fairly new. I am open to all suggestions and if some are manufactured from better quality cast iron or alloy material, even better than more wall thickness to avoid clearance issues. Thank you all again, Kevin
