I am relatively new to this Forum. It already helped me find some needed parts for my D10. I have a question about the engine serial number. Mine has the serial number 10-2042S. I looked at old discussions about the "S" in the number and no one seemed to know what it means. Has anyone found this out since the older discussions?

10 means that you have the 138 cu.in. engine. Must be an early one.

Thanks for the input. I have two D series, a D12 and a D10. Both are first year (1959) production, based on serial numbers on the torque tubes. The D10 was recently acquired and the motor serial number "S" is interesting. It appears that no one here has an explanation. Some have said it may mean "Special," with special features, but they are not sure. So, I guess it will remain a mystery, at least for now.

As a second question, will the front wheel weights from a CA fit the D10? Most advertisements for parts call out other models, but not the D10 or D12. Maybe this is due to fewer being produced.

The 10 designates that that engine was originally installed in a Model D-10,
and nothing to do with the engine size.

The engine size could either be a 139 cu.in. or 149 cu.in.

D-10 built before 'Tractor Serial' number D-10 3501 had a 138 cu.in. engine.

Gary. He is referring to the number on the rear flange of the engine not the tractor serial number. 10-xxxx is a 138, 12-xxx is a 149. Have a nice 1960 original D-12 and the engine number is 10-xxxx
