Subject: Question - L306 mower washers underneath (?)

Can somebody give me a summary of the purpose / usefulness etc of the thin washers that are stacked between the big flat washer and the blades under the deck on my Woods L306 mower ?
One of my blades slips in high grass.  and the bolt seems as tight on that one as the other two.

is it true that those thin washers can get "burned" and lose their spring / clamping temper ?  is that the purpose of them ?  Are they little "clutches" on each blade ?  or just spacers / height adjusters?

is there a good work around for this issue ?  If I have to put them back on, does anybody have a part number for replacements?  And what is the correct order of assembly under there?

Chris,
There is a sequence of washers and felt washers on the L306 (different on the L59).  I just bought 3 complete sets of everything from Messick's for mine.  The sequence permits the blade to slip if you hit a hard, immovable object.  I have all the parts numbers in my manual.  I'll look them up and post a little later.  I probably have two complete sets that came off my mower.  I'll check to see what I have and let you know when I get the parts numbers.
Steve

My mower has a decal showing the order of assembly. Part #13409 shoulder washer, part #13402 clutch disc 3", part #13403 blade stop, part #13404 blade, part #13405 shim washer as required, part #13401 cup washer 2 required, part #12313 5/8" sleeve, part #13451 heat treated washer, part #24184 2 3/8" LH thread bolt. It is my understanding the shim washers are required to keep blade from slipping. I ordered my parts from German-Bliss, fast shipping and good folks to do business with. I also picked up some parts from my local Woods dealer. They should have these parts in stock or can get them quickly.
