Got a 7000 for a project, lots of oil leaks, needs cab interior redone, seat, lights, mirrors, rear rims and tires. My question is on the transmission. Its a 4 speed and reverse manual similar to the 200 but it has a Park, and has 3 speed power director not 2 speed. Did this transmission hold up as well as a 200?? If it will I'll be happy with it, nice to have a park.

It will hold up better than 200. Reverse can be destroyed by pulling out of park and into reverse before transmission brake has a chance to stop gears. MACK

7000's were about bullet proof as to gears -except reverse as Mack said. They had an interlock that pulled the gears and couplers together rather than a straight fit. (some were too aggressive) seldom had pinion brgs issues. PD were much more reliable due to better shift plate.

Fella's thanks for the replies. Guess that will make me feel better about spending time and money on it this winter. Seems like pretty good tractor except for all the leaks and starts hard even if plugged in for hour + and inside an insulated building (was above 50 inside this morning). But runs good when it warms up.. So pump and nozzles will go out while have engine open to replace gaskets, may even run a compression check while there.

A 7000 would still be well worth spending the time and money on a proper engine overhaul. Thos are great tractors is it's not been abused or neglected.

You can get a cab kit from Fehr. Make sure your inlet air preheater is working. I held the key for 60 seconds on my 7000 when it was low 40's a few weeks ago. Fired right up no block heater. I could hear it wasn't happy at first, but it came around. I need to get my pump rebuilt too. Tim
