Can somebody confirm that this is a No. 7 sickle bar mower? I'm pretty confident that it is, I would just like somebody with a little more wisdom to confirm that it is.

If it is like the one on the cover of this manual, then yes it is a No. 7.

Yes it's a number 7. If you are buying it look for the counter-balance spring bracket too.

What does the counter-balance spring bracket do? I was told that it was all complete. I can't tell if it has it from the pictures. I'm going to buy it regardless because I'm getting it at a good price. Also, I looked up what that bracket looked like. Here's a couple pictures for anybody that is curious.

That's the bracket I was talking about, it keeps weight off the bar when it's on the ground. FYI that's my pic's of my bracket and no it's not for sale. lol

Haha that's funny! I just thought it would be a helpful picture for others down the road so I thought I might share it. Do you see this bracket in the pictures that I posted? Because I can't seem to find it if it's there...

Good to see the pic's are getting looked at. I didn't see the bracket in your shots of the mower. If the #7 was mounted on a WD or D17 it will be on the right side of the axle.

So you don't need that bracket for other tractors? I was looking to put this on a D14.

The balance beam bolts to the right final drive, same place as the fender. It helps hold up the right side of the sickle, without it it doesn't hang level. That is a later #7, you can tell by the U shaped cross bar, and the belt tensioner.
Those are the exact same pictures Don posted four years ago when I was asking about a snap coupler mower. Too funny.
The balance beams are hard to find. Usually the sickle mower went in the weeds and the tractor to the scrapyard with the balance beam attached. I found one in Washington State and snapped it up.

I'd keep looking for a 80R those number 7 mowers aren't really very well built or designed and I mowed with one on a WD for years growing up.
