I asked the other day about weighting up a c to use it. I got pretty much the answer that I'd came up with myself, if you can get enough on it it would do the job. The job was pulling some leftover h farmall equipment, mostly a rope trip subsoiler.
   Anyway new question is how much weight can you add to a c and still use it without damaging anything? My thoughts was I found a set of the heavy cast wheels centers and iv got a set of avery rear wheel weights put them on and a set of frame weights when I find them. Is that about all a guy could get away with or could you add some?

Frame weights or engine side weights? The side weights will be fine as will the wheel weights and those should be enough. I would be careful putting any type of frame weights on a C.

A C is about the same weight as a CA, and we know what a CA can pull...

And set of engine weights. I couldn't think of exactly what to call them. I know a ca will really surprise you pulling mounted equipment. I had a ca and a h at the same time I could pull 2 14s with both and a 7 ft disk with both. Only difference is the ca had mounted SC equipment. The ca would probably pull my drag disk but it wouldn't the plow or the subsoiler I tryed. But I'm sure it would have weighed up.

All the weight you can stack on the wheels will not cause any problems as long as the tires will hold the weight.

Like I said before, Dad had his tires loaded with two C wheel weights on each wheel, side engine weights both sides and a plank across the drawbar with sand bags on both sides behind the final drives as high as the top of the final drives. He farmed 148 acres of rolling hilly clay on the farm that laid in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. Nothing broke because of the weight. I would guess the tractor weighed close to 4000 pounds. I pulled my C in the 3500 class some and the rear tires were not loaded. I used three sets of wheel weights with loaded front tires and used a CA front to add a hunk of steel as an extra front weight. I also cut bars of hot roll to stack under the seat to make heaver weights.

Dick I'm glade you replied. I though that what you had said. How much dose a c weight weigh? I think those avery weights are around 100 lds a can just barely handel them by hand.

I pulled my C one time in a 2500 pound class before modifications. My memory is not recalling the shipping weight at this moment.

I guess it should be my sorry. I put my own meaning to what you wrote.

The tapered C weights are 100 pounds each. I have them on the inside and outside of the wheel. 200 pounds on a side. I have studs sticking out to put the third set on. The weights on the B are 125 pounds each that you see in the picture. Using pipe spacers and washers you can use those on a C as well. the holes line up.

I also add a C weight to the B when I needed the extra weight.

Those cone shaped weights look very simular to my avery weights. I have 3 avery weights and one off a b farmall so I could put them on inside and out I guess.
