Hey all,

My 91 R60 has a full bin and no way to unload it... Frown

The clutch is getting juice, but it is slipping.

For testing, I unhooked the connector under the cab, and hooked a battery charger up, and it behaves the same.

I had it apart last year to replace the pulley idler bearing, and there was a fairly large stack of shims spacing the magnet out, but I put most if not all of them back in due to the magnet darn near rubbing the armature, very very close, basically little to no gap.

Last year it did slip with the baffles raised high, but I lowered the baffles and it was fine since then.

The one terminal looked iffy, so I replaced it, no change. With the engine off, key on, the test light will glow very brightly at the under cab connector, but hook it up and go put the test light on the magnet terminal, and it glows, but not as brightly. I assume due to voltage drop due to the high load of the magnet? Or is it dim because one or more brushes are burnt out on the brush holder?

About all I can think of right now is to replace the brush holder, and after that, tear down further and maybe replace the magnet and armature.

The newer electric clutch setup is something we are not fully educated on yet, used to the L/M/N series with either a rod or a hyd. ram, so I am a little stuck.

What say you guys?

You need a volt meter to check voltage at clutch. Sounds line there is too much voltage across brush holder.      MACK
