We are getting very near completion of my snap coupler all crop drill. Does any one know where to hook the chains that engage and disengage the drill when you lift and lower it. The manuals that I have are not clear on this.   |

I can't help but that is one sweet looking drill! Maybe if I live to about 110 mine will look like that someday. |

Thanks Mike but mine wouldn't look that if my dad didn't help. I did all the blasting painting and fabricating but he did all of the disassembly and reassembly. I also guaranty that will be the last grain drill I restore. I never realized how many little parts there are until it is in piles. My hat is off to the people that restore the larger drills. |

There are two chains that open up the fertilizer and engage the drill when the drill is lowered into the ground. They hook somewhere near the left rear wheel on the casting. I am just not quite sure where and how. |

Looks like I was wrong, on both the chains, in question, and the drive wheel...  Shoulda said IIRR...

I think the "Allis-Chalmers" is he same as the ones on the hood of a WD45. Id have to measure mine. I can get check but it may take me a while to get time to do so. ------------- An open eye is much more observant than an open mouth |

| I saw one sold at an auction near me a couple of weeks ago. It was not restored but in pretty good shape. They said it was working. Think it brought about $1650.00. My brother has one that needs work on the bins. Probably won't get restored either. |

My friend just bought a nice drill like this at auction a month ago. Price was similar to as mentioned above. Guess there just aren't many of these around. He was happy to add it to his collection of AC equipment. Not sure he will restore it. He talked about using it a little.
