I think in older stuff a WD45 w power steering and an Allis 445 loader would be pretty slick.

I'm thinking D series or newer. Even the 100 series maybe?

I have a D-15 series II with rear wheel weights. Works great and highly recommend!

Are the hydraulics strong enough to run a decent size loader?

Also, what loader do you have on it?

My I600 is a pretty decent loader tractor for its size.

D19 with a dual loader and a front mount pump or maybe 170 - 185. The 190 and 200 are ok if you want a loader tractor where you sit up a little higher.

Steve, the tractor you describe is exactly what I have; a 1953 WD45 with factory power steering that I added, a 445 loader and a machined brace for the front axel so I don't bend it. I'll take a picture and post tomorrow. I had a 519 loader on my D19D but wouldn't use it in the winter do to it being hard on the motor so I sold the loader and had Don Bradly rebuild the engine.

Michael, Yes. I think if I can track a good 445 down it will suit me well!

I'd have to say a D17 series 4 makes a really good loader tractor.I've had an AC Model 170 on up to a Westendorf WL-42 on mine.

If you are going to be using it much as just a loader tractor, I would recommend one with a Shuttle Clutch.
I have a D-15 II with a 415 loader, and you are continually shifting forward to reverse.

6060 or 6080 4WD hands down the best loader tractor. unless you are stuck in the 50's or 60's

I prefer the 170D with a 500 loader too. I have a 180 and 190 but, like to use the 170 for loader work.

SpenceFarm: The hydraulics on the D-15 Series II work great. It was one of the last ones made. I have a snow bucket on it. Loader was made by Paulson. Hope that helps.

I have 5 tractors with loaders, WD45—New Idea Horn loader, I400 loader backhoe, 2 – 180 with 500 loaders and 8030 FWA with Westerndorf loader. The big tractor will lift the most, but for feeding and general loader work I like the 180. They are easer to get on and off and have better visibility.

I wish my WD had power steering and a Shuttle.... that's all it needs. I have however learned to only steer while rolling, and just stop and shift.

I was trying to buy a 175 D with a loader I thought would do all I wanted to do. But the dealer was stuck on his price despite me showing as nice tractors a little farther from home for a good bit less.
So for a while longer I am stuck with my D17 with the Kelly light weight loader with manual trip bucket.
Is't the best rig but better than a mexicon drag line for moving dirt.

My dad & uncle's dealership had a One-Ninety gas with an AC loader. I don't remember the model number; maybe a 500? We had forks on the front for moving pallets and also a boom that swung down with the forks in a narrowed position. Used it a lot to move field cultivator frames, disc gangs, etc. to put the implements together. I believe the tractor was a trade-in and then the new loader went on it. Been too many years to remember for sure.

just one question , are you going to load or move big bales all the time

We have a 1962 series II D-17 gas with a 500 loader. The pump is mounted to the front of the tractor. This was put on at the dealership in 1970. They installed shims because the D-17 frame is narrower than some of the other tractors the loader will fit. It is a great loader.

6080 fwa is a heck of a loader tractor. Problem with them is I run out of traction long before I run out of power. They are really sweet it they have a foot throttle like mine does

If your going to do just loader work - look at a industrial tractor for the job say a 714 or other such or a 715 TLB
